I LOVE AMERICA

So blessed and grateful to live in this amazing country. Happy independence day, everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIZ!

 I'm pretty sure that once this picture existed, you were the coolest sister for life. Emily and I just had no chance anymore...

It's funny how people often say that the three of us sisters are "so alike!" and "practically the same person!" ...And I see their pont, we are all very alike. But then again, there's the distinct differences that come from knowing each other so well that make us so different from each other.

So, here's to you! To your Dove peppermint bark obsession (it's a seasonal candy, I totally get it), love for design, and passion for all things Italian! I love you!

P.S. I know I'll (hopefully) be busy making lots of friends and getting good grades in the Fall, but lets make lots of time for sister stuff with the three of us! (Remember when we watched all of The Mindy Project in Emily's bed and ate those pizza things she made? That was fun.) Because who knows how long all of us will be living in the same place again. I literally cannot express how excited I am to be living so close to you guys again! Ahhh!

"Save 'The Shop Around the Corner' and you will save your soul."

Such a good birthday. On the car ride up, we decided to scrap our plans for the busier parts of the city and spent the day in the Upper West Side. It was the best idea. There are many more photos to come, but for now, let it be known that I'm standing on the steps of KATHLEEN KELLY'S brownstone, and that tile lines the floor of Cafe Lalo, the cutest little eatery you ever did see. ...Left my heart in the UWS, February 15th, 2013.

The Traditional NYC Birthday Trip

These are some of my favorite photos ----- such a dreamy look you can only find in film. Thanks, little Diana! This Friday, my mother and I are going on a little birthday excursion to New York --- something we tend to do for birthdays in recent years. You'll hear no complaints from me! New York has my heart!

I decided I didn't want to go about it "day trip style" (run around packing in as much as possible until you're dead on your feet, etc.), so we're going to be super relaxed about it. I'm thinking we're going to see the Faking It exhibit at The Met. Definitely on the agenda is getting a legendary cookie from Levain. Those things are huge, so happy birthday to me! And I randomly really, really love those honey roasted cashews from street carts, so that's definitely happening too. Other than that, we're doing some shopping (yay), eating lots of treats, and just being spontaneous.

I can't wait to have a relaxing birthday in one of my favorite places!!

Happy Birthday to the Best Middle Sister on the Block!

First things first: birthday wishes from Ryan.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Emily!! I love birthdays. Aren't they the greatest?! Sorry I haven't been able to be there for the last three years. Hopefully that'll change next year, and we can celebrate up the month of February together in P-town. I can't wait.

Thanks for making work on the farm for the past few years so fun! Thanks for always catching my references. And thanks for always humoring my puns.

I know I can always count on you for good advice and a night of our favorite chick flicks, and I know you'll always be the voice of reason when I'm exhausted and decide it's a good idea to lie on the floor and reevaluate my life ---  it's never a good idea. Someday we'll learn... ;)

I know you'll always be able to understand what I'm talking about when I'm laughing way too hard to actually articulate, or when I'm reeeeally tired and my words start to mush together.

I know you'll always be on my side for important matters, like how we feel about Cosette and not going ring shopping before you're engaged. Don't worry, I'll make sure your future husband picks out the perfect ring all by himself. So much more romantic that way.

I love you, Emily!! You're thebombDOTcom. Happy birthday! I hope your Provo friends take you out for a night on the town, since I can't be there!

It's February, People!

In honor of Valentine's Day, I put together a little video.
Because I associate holidays with treats. And I love love.

They're Funfetti cupcakes, of course! My frosting skills could use a little work, I guess...

I came across this cake yesterday, and by the looks of it, it could be a game changer.

what are you doing new years eve?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

i hope you've made lots of beautiful goals. xo.

April 4, 2012

not belated, but fashionably late.

Happy, happy birthday to my sister Liz! I'm kind of bad with the birthday blog post bandwagon, but better late than never, right? (Emily, I'll get ya next year for sure!)

I'm glad that you got sung to by Erin and David Archuleta on your birthday. {And the rest of those little missionaries in training, but who's counting....} It was one for the memory books, am I right? I love you!

Questo รจ per voi, carissime sorelle! L'amore, il vostro preferito ragazzi.

i can!

here's how the day went down, february 11th, 2012.

7:16 am: we depart for our big adventure. it's snowing, enough to make everything look beautiful.
9:16: we arrive in the city. there was NO traffic. i've never seen anything like it. still snowing.
9:24: we admire the cutest puppies in the pet store window, along with other real new yorkers. i'm telling you, a yorkie puppie can break anyone.
9:30: mom and i go to sprinkles for cupcakes; vanilla & chocolate frosting for her, snickerdoodle for me.
9:30-11:30: we wander around the upper west for a little while and eat macarons, then head to the theatre district, buy some sheet music, and look at "lee's art shop."
11:30 - 12:30: we eat at a bbq place. it's pretty delicious. {can you tell that i like food yet?}
12:30: we meander our way to the al hirschfeld theatre.

12:55: we're a block away and i hear screaming....
12:56: i start running because there were no more cars
12:57: nick jonas is four feet away from me. on the other side of the barricade. {les mis reference, anyone... the barricade... hahaha}
12:58: he waves at me because i couldn't get a picture and security makes him go in the stage door
12:59: i strategize my plan for after the show...

2:00-4:30: i'm in awe

4:31: i'm in the front row 'at the lonely barricade' {haha i laugh at my own jokes}
4:32: i make friends with the girls behind me and they're ready to take my picture with my favorite little j. pierpont 'f-i-n-c-h' finch!
4:35: the only person who comes out is mr. trumble. because he's a company man. he signs my playbill.
4:40: "I'm sorry, Nick doesn't come out between shows. Bye!"
4:41: </3
4:42: the domino's pizza delivery guy goes in the stage door. injustice!

4:43: i already have a plan for next time. :)

eat your heart out, cake boss

why did my sisters develop their sweet (ha, it's a dessert) birthday cake baking talents when they moved two THOUSAND miles away? that's the worst kind of timing. besides this, of course.
