Café Lalo
Café Lalo: home to the turning point of You've Got Mail. When Joe Fox not only realizes that Shopgirl is the one and only Kathleen Kelly, but that he's in love with her. But more than this, he realizes that he needs to romance her to help her realize the same. Had he just walked into dinner and admitted he was NY152, Kelly would've run for the hills, and who would've blamed her? Ugh, I just love that movie, and eating birthday brunch there was perfect. The decor in the little café was beyond charming: the exposed brick, the French and Italian posters, and the floor to ceiling windows looking out on the street and a set of bright red brownstones. And not to mention, the food was both darling and delicious. I highly recommend it.
And you better believe that the little postcard I got on the way out will be hanging in my dorm room come August. :)
PS: "I bet you just LOOVE that Mr. Darcy..."
If I was to point out where we sat, I would've been sitting back to back with my girl Kathleen. Yep, directly behind her.
